The annual Garang Guni event aims to raise funds for RSPVH events.
We had a flyer distribution session a while ago. Now, it is time to reap what we have sowed. For yesterday, our focus was on a few eastates in Pioneer (a residential area in the West side of Singapore).
All the participants are split into 4 teams for this event and each team is assigned a handful of HDB blocks.
I am team leader number 4. Early in the morning, me and my group mates, together with other groups, gathered at Boon Lay Bus Interchange fresh and all ready to go. On the way, we listed down our game plan, DOs and D'ONTs because...
Every successful event needs one..
1. Go to each household.
2. Observe if there are bags of clothes, cans or stacks of newspapers etc attached with our flyers outside their door.
3. If so, collect them and place them at the lift lobby of the respective floor.
4. If not, kindly knnock on their door.
5. If someone answers, kindly introduce yourself and ask if they have any unwanted old newspapers, cans, magazines or newspapers.
6. If yes, do step 3.
7. Else, move on.
We had Ah Lian bee Hoon for lunch which was great! After working hard for so long, a rewarding meal is all everyone needs to not only fill their stomachs but also to recharge their body and spirits. Lunch is over. All the teams set off to complete the blocks they are left with.
After following the above 7 steps diligently throughout the whole event, our efforts paid off!
This event was a great success because not only that we manage to earn a considerable amount, all of us could see the VH team spirit shining. Everyone put their best foot forward and worked well with each other. Not to mention our second round of rewarding meal at a nearby KFC! Although it is just something simple, it filled our hearts and made us know each other a little better through our conversations.
