In the amidst of moving out of hall and settling down after exams, most of the volunteers could only make it on the 2nd day of the chalet for the BBQ session (Hmmm...maybe they just came of the food 😏😏😏).
Other than Food-ing, we also celebrated Wei Tian's (aka our esteem volunteer) birthday.
Here's a short clip of VH Chalet DAY 2. Enjoy!

Eyes close, heart wide open.
Still lost, steps never stop.
This were the words that came to my mind through my experience with 2 of the beneficiaries last weekend. Even though they can't see very well, they are very accepting. Even though I guide them the wrong way, they did not give up and continue to trust me to bring them to their destination.
So here's what exactly happen:
Initially, I've opted to stay 2 nights for VH chalet, treating it as a mini getaway from books right after my paper on last Friday morning. Earlier last week, I was assigned the mission to get the chalet keys from my chairperson without any idea why. Even so, I still accepted the mission. I did got the keys. But, what I did not know is that the beneficiaries will be arriving earlier and there'll be no one there to open the chalet door. So, the benes who were already on the cab had to make a detour to fetch me (I feel very guilty for that but I was unaware of their early arrival).
You will be shocked that that was my first time at Aloha Changi. And, after alighting from the cab, I was pretty lost and did not know where to go. If I knew I had to fetch 2 benes on my own, I would have did a more thorough research and went there beforehand. However, I did not get the chance to. Being a complete road dummy (aka go everywhere also get lost, even with GoogleMaps), I guided 2 benes along different pathways back and fro, with no avail. Afraid, I guided them with directions, especially at steep slopes, potential obstacle objects and stairs. As I couldn't get much help even from asking the chairman or asking passengers, the 2 benes and I are lost though we were at the right place but wrong location. From which, I learn that event though they are visually impaired, their 'heart are wide open' and they had entrusted me to guide them to the right place.
I keep asking them if they were tired, they keep saying they are not. Hence, I persevere and trust Google once more and used GPS and found our way there. One part I found extremely hard when guiding 2 benes was that there were many huge trees in the middle of the path, roads and stairs. I was really afraid that one of them may accidentally run into a tree due to parallex error. So, i kept looking behind to check and make sure they don't. While crossing the road (which is pretty empty), I tried to use my keen sight and hearing to make sure there's no sudden appearance of oncoming cars from both directions.
After much help from Google, we finally made it to the chalet, At which, we watch Channel 8 drama and played cards while we wait from our dinner (which came so late that it was supper). After supper, we had a few rounds of card games before turning in for the night.
We woke up pretty late the next day, After which, the volunteers and benes made our way to Tampines Mall to get some drinks for BBQ later that night. Nonetheless, the BBQ food was great and many of us had fun at chalet playing PSYC, playing Kinect and watching movies.
